The sportsman is stepping away from his club to join Love Island.

A League of Ireland footballer is set to enter the Love Island villa.

According to reports, the sportsman has stepped away from his club to take part in the reality show. His name has not yet been released, but The Independent confirmed he does not hail from Ireland. He is also aged in his early twenties and is a fringe player.

His identity won’t be publicly revealed until the last minute.

He will reportedly enter the Love Island villa in the coming week.

The 10th series of the ITV show returned last night. Ten islanders entered the stunning villa, based in Mallorca no less, to find the one.

Earlier this month, ITV confirmed the first Irish contestant heading into the villa this season.

22-year-old Catherine Agbaje from Dublin joined the cast of the popular reality series and we already adore her.

Ahead of the show’s opening episode, Catherine said, “I’m fun, I’m flirty, I’m just never boring. I can chat your ears off!”

The 22-year-old also said she is a fun and loving character. She said her family and friends would describe her as someone with a lot of “love to give”.

Love Island continues tonight at 9 pm on Virgin Media One.
