People were not happy.
Lorde gave an interview with The Guardian recently where she talked about having relationships in the public eye. She was referring mainly to friendships, rather than her love life and it somehow led to Taylor Swift’s name being used by the journalist.
While Lorde never specially mentioned Taylor’s name she did say this about having a famous friend:
“It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do. There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.”
This did not go down well with people, who accused her of being insensitive.
I wonder how @selenagomez feels about this. What an incredibly ignorant analogy to make @lorde. pic.twitter.com/McbWd058DW

Did .@lorde liken us #spoonie‘s for having an autoimmune disease to having a friendship with Taylor Swift? I’m confused on the analogy.

I’m so mad Lorde said being friends with Taylor Swift is like being friends with someone who has an autoimmune disease. What a messy comment

After facing all the backlash, she apologised to one person on Twitter saying, “didn’t mention Taylor, but regardless, I fucked up & that was really insensitive. I’m sorry.”
