Love Island launch date has been confirmed and it’s so soon

So exciting!

Love Island’s winter season is only a matter of days away and as rumours began spiralling of which exact date we’ll get to see it, we now officially know.

Returning to ITV2 and Virgin Media Two, you’ll want to mark your calendars as the winter series is airing on Monday, January 16 from 9pm.

This series marks Maya Jama’s hosting debut on the show as Laura Whitmore made her exit last year.

Speaking about her new role, Maya said: “I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.”

ITV revealed a couple of teaser trailers for the new run on St. Stephen’s day 2022 including one which saw new host Maya Jama alongside the caption “New year, new series, new host. Let’s do this, @MayaJama.”

Another featured a spinning pink bronco and was captioned: “Are you ready to grab love by the horns? You know what’s coming when you hear this noise.”

This news comes after it was revealed that this year’s Love Island will be looking a little bit different as contestants are set to have their social media accounts taken off them completely during the show.

Typically, friends or family members take over the islanders’ accounts and post on their behalf while they’re in the villa, but that’s not what will be happening for the upcoming winter season.

They will now instead receive “guidance and training around mutually respective behaviour in relationships” following thousands of complaints earlier this year.

All activity will be paused on social media and nobody will be allowed to post as them as a way to build their brands or help gather support.
