Caroline Flack presented the show to a live audience.
A number of viewers took to Twitter to express their outrage at the comments while others took issue with the format of the show itself.
An ITV2 spokesman denied accusations of sexism, telling MailOnline: "Love Island was one of the most talked about shows of the night and struck a chord with an ITV2 audience.
"It is compliant with Ofcom guidelines."
