Love Island viewers thrilled as Ekin-Su shakes things up

Sarah McKenna Barry

We love her.

It’s fair to say that the early days of Love Island can feel a bit slow. The cast members seem a little reserved, and we feel like we still need to get to know them. The arrival of a bombshell, however, can really shake things up, and that’s exactly what we saw last night.

Two brand new islanders entered the villa – 25 year-old lounge host Afia Tonkmor and 27-year-old actress Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. Right off the bat, the girls dated newly single Liam Llewellyn, before entering the villa and meeting the other contestants.

While Love Island is still in the early days of the competition, it was refreshing to see some new arrivals, and viewers were particularly intrigued by Ekin-Su, who, it’s fair to say, shook things up.

The actress made it quite clear that she’s not on the hunt for new pals, but rather looking to meet the one, and this appeared to rattle the other girls. Gemma, in particular, took offence when Ekin-Su suggested that she could be her “little sister”, and she struggled to let that comment go for the rest of the episode.

The next morning, Ekin-Su kicked off her first day in the villa by making breakfast for Davide while the rest of the girls looked on from the terrace. The pair of them then hit the gym for an intense session. Later, Ekin-Su disputed Paige’s claims that she got cuddly with Luca the night before. She was, after all, awake all night.

Over on Twitter, Ekin-Su went down an absolute treat.

One viewer wrote: “nah molly mae was right, we acc all have 24 hours in a day bc look at what ekin-su has managed to achieve in less than a day compared to the rest of the love island babes.”

Love Island alum Shaughna Phillips wrote: “Ekin-Su is not a bombshell, she’s a weapon of mass destruction at this point because all I see is carnage. I love her.”

Chloe Burrows, meanwhile, penned: “Whoever found Ekin-Su needs a pay rise this is riveting tv.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
