Love Island’s Amy has revealed why the contestants are avoiding having sex this year

The latest episode of our Love Island show I’ve Got A Text is now live!

Love Island contestants are avoiding having sex because of how big the show has gotten.

That’s according to ex-Islander Amy Hart, who has been speaking out after leaving the villa this week.

While couples in previous series got up to all sorts in the communal bedroom and the hideaway, things have been a lot more PG this year.

Contestants now are aware of the millions of eyes on them and don’t want their families seeing them doing bits, she said.

“No one wants to have sex as it’s a family show now,” Amy told The Sun.

“It used to be more niche but my 73-year-old nan and grandad are obsessed with it.

“It was hard knowing they would be watching it and seeing me upset.”

Amy added that she didn’t regret getting intimate with Curtis in the villa.

“I was laying in bed with a bloke I really fancied.

“I don’t regret it. You forget the cameras are there.”

Longtime viewers will remember that having sex on camera cost one former Islander dearly.

Zara Holland was stripped of her Miss Great Britain title after she and Alex Bowen got frisky during the 2016 series.

“The feedback we have received from pageant insiders and members of the general public is such that we cannot promote Zara as a positive role model moving forward,” Miss Great Britain organisers said at the time.

“We wholly understand that everyone makes mistakes, but Zara, as an ambassador for Miss Great Britain, simply did not uphold the responsibility expected of the title.”

The decision was widely condemned, with Love Island host Caroline Flack asking, “are we living in the dark ages?”
