Love Island star Luca Bish’s family are responding to claims that he has been “controlling” his partner Gemma Owen during his time on the show after fans called him out on it over social media.
During his time on the show, he has been coupled up with Gemma for the majority and the two seem to be progressing in their relationship.
Luca’s social media is currently being run by his sister Claudia and she has taken to his account to say how disappointed she is to hear the comments being made about her brother, saying he is only showing “how into Gemma he is.”
Taking to the 24 year old’s Instagram page, Claudia said that she and Luca’s family “could not be more proud of our boy if we tried.”
She wrote: “Such a huge shame to see the stigma surrounding men being transparent with their emotions.. he’s expressed how into Gemma he is, and it’s taken as controlling?”

Luca has seen some criticism directed at him on Twitter, with viewers saying he is laying too much on Gemma and even going as far as to say he is “controlling” and his behaviour is a “red flag.”
Alongside her message of support for her brother, Claudia posted a picture of Luca in the villa, saying he is “THE funniest and most caring kid we know and we will forever be proud at how much he’s wearing his heart on his sleeve.”
She also added that her brother is had stuck to his promise of remaining to “be his beautiful self and play” and that he is “sticking to his word.”
She said: “You are making your family so proud our Luca. Thank you for all of the lovely messages #LEMMA.”
During Monday night’s episode, we saw Luca confess to Jaques O’Neill that he thinks he has “fallen” for Michael Owen’s daughter, adding on last night’s episode that the heart rate challenge only confirmed it.
