Madonna gets court order to stop these personal items being auctioned

'It is outrageous and grossly offensive'.

The singer does not want these items getting out.

A New York judge has halted an impending auction of Madonna’s personal items after the singer sought an emergency court order.

Madonna said she was “shocked to learn” about the auction and had no idea the items up for grabs were no longer in her possession.

What were the items she was so eager to keep off the market? Well, the list included previously worn underwear, a hairbrush with her hair in it, and a love letter from her ex-boyfriend, Tupac Shakur.

“The fact that I have attained celebrity status as a result of success in my career does not obviate my right to maintain my privacy, including with regard to highly personal items,” the 58-year-old said in the court papers.

“I understand that my DNA could be extracted from a piece of my hair. It is outrageous and grossly offensive that my DNA could be auctioned for sale to the general public.”

However, the item that most people are interested in is the love letter sent by the late rapper, Tupac.

Madonna and Tupac dated in the early 1990s, before his death in 1996, and interest in the couple has resurfaced recently after pictures of the letter emerged.

In it, Tupac apologises to the singer for breaking things off, claiming it was all to do with how he would be perceived at the beginning of his career.

Expected to get bids of up to $400,000, the letter will remain private for now as the court ruled to postpone the auction.
