Modern Family casts its first transgender child actor
The episode airs in the US this week.
The premise of Modern Family has been from the start that there is more types of clans than the typical nuclear family, there are blended families, parents with age gaps and LGBT relationships.
This week, it is making headlines for its diversity again. The newest episode of the hit show will feature a transgender actor.
The episode will feature a story line with Mitch and Cam's daughter Lily inviting her transgender friend over for a play date.
Lily's friend will be played by 8-year-old Jackson Millarker.
Director of Modern Family, Ryan Case shared a photo of herself and Jackson on Instagram calling him 'wonderful' and saying that this is just "one of the many reasons I love being part of this show."
The episode, entitled “A Stereotypical Day,” will be featured on the new 8th season of the show.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the young actor star on the show again after this episode.
