John Grant has announced he will release his third album this October.
The American singer's next album will be called Grey Tickles, Black Pressure and is the follow up to the hugely-successful Pale Green Ghosts, which featured backing vocals from Sinead O'Connor.
Grant will appear with O'Connor at the Big Top for this year's Galway Arts Festival bill and will also take to the stage at Vicar Street on November 9th (sold out) and 10th.
“I do think the album’s great, and I’m really proud of it, I wanted to get moodier and angrier on this record, but I probably had a lot more fun making it,” he said.
He cites “amazing” session keyboardist Bobby Sparks, who also worked with St Vincent on her self-titled album, for bringing a new sound to the album, saying he "really funked things up".
Grey Tickles, Black Pressure has been described as a "moody, angry record, laced with levering humour and wounded pathos" and will be released on Bella Union on October 2nd.
A (slightly creepy and NSFW) trailer for the album has been released and is available here.
