It arguably started with Take That and The Spice Girls, but the 90s were a full on girl and boyband fest and it seemed that every other week a new group came on the scene.
As with every passing fad, many of the manufactured pop bands we grew up listening to faded into obscurity within a matter of months and until now, appearances on Celebrity Come Dine With Me and other reality TV shows were the only career prospects they could look forward to. Oh, and panto. You can’t forget panto...
But, the comeback tour is suddenly big business and it seems we love nothing more than seeing our favourite cheesy popbands take to a stage in a pub or small venue, banging out the tunes just like they used to back in the good old days. We feel like teenagers again, they earn a bit of money – everybody wins. So, bearing this in mind, ITV2 have come up with a new show The Big Reunion.
The show which will air later this month features six Smash Hits cover stars – Atomic Kitten, 5ive, B*Witched, 911, Liberty X and The Honeyz – and will help the acts get back to their pre-Millennium best.
So dust off your matchy-matchy accessories, denim mini’s and get those buffalo trainers out of storage and prepare to witness the biggest comeback of them all.
We dare you not to sing along!
