These lads seem to be destined for big things as they have just signed a five-record deal with music label Mercury. And they’re only teenagers!
The Strypes, who are a four-piece rhythm and blues group from Cavan, have put pen to paper for a deal that could change their lives.

The boys signed the five-record deal in Dublin.
Bass player Pete O’Hanlon told The Sun newspaper that they’re over the moon about it: “We’ve signed a deal with Mercury for two albums, and three options afterwards, which is apparently unheard of for a new band.”
He also explained that they are happy to have done it the old-fashioned way as opposed to appearing on a talent show like X Factor.
“We’re against the whole thing, it’s so artificial and manufactured. We’d have no interest in that. We just want to let the music speak for itself. We plan to play lots of clubs in the UK and Ireland and build our fanbase from the ground up,” he said.

They plan on doing things the old-fashioned way.
The deal is a major step for the new band but as with everything, sacrifices will have to be made. The teenagers are said to be leaving school to focus on their music.
“We’ve taken a break from school as we were missing so much with gigs and things… Our school are behind us,” Pete added.
In case you haven’t heard any of their stuff yet, here is the music video for their song You Can’t Judge A Book By The Cover. Enjoy!
