Netflix adds Season 2 of the true crime documentary series with a 100 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes

Paul Moore

True crime fans, your weekend is sorted.

With news that price increases will be introduced for Irish customers, Netflix are doing their very best to give viewers what they want and in terms of genres, it’s arguable that nothing has been as popular as true crime.

In fact, you could argue that it’s what Netflix does best but with lots of new titles to look forward to in July, it appears that there’s plenty in that genre to get stuck into.

However, if you’re a true crime addict, you’ll be pleased to know that Season 2 of The Confession Tapes is now available to watch.

Much like the first season, the four episodes in Season 2 “investigate cases where people convicted of murder claim their confessions were coerced, involuntary or false”.

Four cases will be documented in Season 2, see details below:

Gaslight – Without a lawyer to advise him, a weary truck driver confesses to murdering a 17-year-old girl following an exhausting interrogation.

Joyride – A double murder in Nebraska sparks a hunt for those responsible and a bizarre series of interviews that raise more questions than answers.

Deep Down – In a long interview with police, Angelika Graswald admits to being OK with her fiancé drowning during a kayaking expedition. Cops and media pounce.

Marching Orders – After Hamid Hayat admits to attending a terrorist camp, lawyers and his family question whether the taped confession reveals a very different truth.

The first season of the documentary series currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so hopes will be high for similar quality from the follow-up.

The Confession Tapes: Season 2 is now available to watch on Netflix.
