Netflix is due to release a documentary about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann this month.

However, Maddie’s parents, Kate and Gerry, have refused to take part.

The documentary, which will no doubt be widely viewed, will feature interviews with key investigators in what is the 12th anniversary of Maddie’s disappearance.

However, Gerry and Kate McCann want nothing to do with the production.

The couple’s former spokesperson said: “We want nothing to do with it.”

Fair enough.

The couple apparently refused a part in the documentary last year, because the case is still active.

“We understand it is a serialised drama but neither Kate, Gerry nor their holiday friends and main players have co-operated in any shape or form,” a family friend revealed.

“And we have no idea who the actors are. We believe it is coming out very soon, within the next two weeks and before the next anniversary.”

A source also revealed:

“We would have welcomed the opportunity of working with the McCanns directly, but they informed us they couldn’t and wouldn’t consider taking part while a police investigation is into their daughter’s abduction is ongoing.”
