Netflix have shared the first full trailer for The Society, the newest show we’re all going to be talking about once it lands this spring.
Hailed as a contemporary take on Lord of the Flies – with just a splash of Gossip Girl – it is one of those shows we just *know* we’re going to be addicted to once it arrives on Netflix.
Basically, it is about a group of young adults who find themselves transported to New Ham, a town in New England that is – in every way – identical to the one they grew up in.
Only now, they are alone – both in the town and on the edge of a vast continent that seems very much like what the first Europeans might have called the “New World.”
The Society is a modern retelling of the Lord of the Flies tale – this time with near-adults and with no magic to save them.
They will either succeed by remaking the social order or they will perish by each other’s hands.
The 10-episode first season will arrive on Netflix on May 10.
The cast includes Rachel Keller, Kathryn Newton, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Jacques Colimon, Sean Berdy, Toby Wallace, and Gideon Adlon.
Olivia DeJonge, Alex MacNicoll, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jose Julian, Salena Qureshi, Jack Mulhern, and Grace Victoria Cox also star.
