Netflix’s Anna Delvey true crime series is coming soon – here’s what we know so far

Cassie Stokes

The woman who tricked her way into the NY elite.

Two years ago, New York Magazine published an article entitled: “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”. It told the story of a Russian born woman named Anna Sorkin who tricked New York’s elite into thinking she was a wealthy heiress named Anna Delvey.

An elaborate tale of how Anna pretended to be a German heiress and tried to swindle banks into loaning her money, in the end she was found out and soon found guilty. Spoilers, she’s now in prison serving time for her crimes.

Bu this wasn’t just a few lies here and there. Known as The Soho Grifter, Anna tricked friends and businesses out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, right up until she was caught.

Not only is the story one of the best rags to riches tales ever, but the woman behind Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, Shonda Rhymes, is the producer on the upcoming limited Netflix series: Inventing Anna.

Here’s what we know about the new show.

Inventing Anna is a 10 part series starring Julia Garner as the elusive Anna. Shonda Rhymes is developing the series as executive producer and the director behind The Devil Wears Prada, David Frankel is directing two of the episodes.

The rest of the cast include a list of well known actors including Veep’s Anna Chlumsky, Laverne Cox, and Jennifer Esposito.

Filming has already begun in New York City too, and while there is no release date just yet, here’s hoping we won’t have to wait too long to sink our teeth into this true crime drama.
