The new behind-the-scenes Handmaid’s Tale video is getting us super pumped for season two

Jade Hayden

April can’t come fast enough.

If you’ve seen even approximately five minutes of The Handmaid’s Tale, you’ll know that it’s one of, if not the best, shows on television at the moment.

Tense, heartbreaking, and genuinely beautiful to watch, the Hulu programme stunned audiences when it was first released last year with its incredible cast and almost-too-close-to-the-bone content.

Season one ended somewhere along the same lines as where Margaret Atwood’s book of the same name finished up – Offred was either being captured by the Eyes or taken somewhere safe.

Basically, we don’t know yet and we’ve been only gagging to find out.

The new season isn’t set to kick off until April, but to keep us all entertained in the meantime, Hulu has released a little behind-the-scenes clip of the show.

It features stars Elisabeth Moss and Samira Wiley talking about their characters, the world of Gilead, and how the show isn’t a million miles away from real life.

Moss says that Offred is so easy to empathise with because “she’s just like me or you.”

“She’s not a fighter. She doesn’t know how to use a weapon. She doesn’t have any special skills. She worked at a book publisher.

“I am a fertile woman of 34 and if Gilead happened now, I would be a handmaid.”

Wiley echoes Moss’s sentiments, saying that the world of The Handmaid’s Tale isn’t all that different to our own.

She says:

“It seems far away but it also seems like it could be so close. I think the show does that well, showing us little by little how it could happen.

“As human being, we want to stay hopeful. That’s what keeps us going.”

Season two of The Handmaid’s Tale kicks off on April 25.
