New images from Mary Poppins Returns will make you very excited

Laura Holland

We’ve been teased for ages about this.

We still have a whole year and a half to wait for the new Mary Poppins movie but it doesn’t stop us from being very excited.

A few months back we got the first look at the new Disney movie which stars Emily Blunt in the lead role as Mary.

That was only a shot from the back of her facing what looks like the Banks’ household. But now, a new image has been released and it’s very like the original movie. Showing Emily as Mary, Lin Manuel Miranda as Burt and the Banks children.

Emily also features on the front cover of Entertainment Weekly to promote the movie.

Mary Poppins Returns will be set 20 years after the original movie where Mary has to return to the Banks’ household once more to help them through a family tragedy.

It stars Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, Colin Farrell and Lin-Manuel Miranda and will also see Dick Van Dyke in a minor role.

Speaking about the new movie, director Rob Marshall has previously said:

“I am truly humbled and honored to be asked by Disney to bring P.L. Travers’ further adventures to the screen. The iconic original film means so much to me personally, and I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation.”
