OFFICIAL: Rocko’s Modern Life is returning as a film on Netflix

Paul Moore

Big news for ’90s kids.

If Nickelodeon was an integral part of your childhood, news that a new film about Rocko’s Modern Life is coming to Netflix is, well, big news.

If you were a fan of the show, you’ll be delighted to learn that Netflix have announced that Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling is arriving on the online streaming giant from 9 August, featuring all the old characters with the original voice actors.

The film revolves around the main characters coming back to Earth after being lost in space since the show ended in 1996.

The official synopsis states: “After being in space for around 20 years, Rocko and his friends attempt to conform to an even more modern life in O-Town, where coffee shops are on every corner, food trucks offer multi-layered tacos, touch-screen O-Phones are being upgraded on a near-constant basis, an instant-print kiosk has replaced Rocko’s old job at Kind-of-a-Lot-O-Comics, and radioactive energy drinks turn their consumers into mutants.”

Rocko’s Modern Life aired on Nickelodeon in 1993 and revolved around the adventures of Rocko, an Australian wallaby that navigates life with his friends Heffer, Filburt and his dog, Spunky.

Now, can Rocko avoid getting into trouble with those neighbours? We shall wait and see.

Thankfully, the animation style looks like it hasn’t been modernised, which is a very appreciated touch.

Take a look at what’s in store.
