Remember him?

Singer Ryan O’Shaughnessy has dropped a major hint that he will be representing Ireland in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

No stranger to singing contests, having previously appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, The Voice of Ireland, and The Hit, it looks like Ryan is going to try his luck in the competition which takes place in Lisbon this year.

He confirmed to fans that he will have an ‘announcement’ to make today, and subtly dropped in an Irish flag after his caption.

Big announcement coming tomorrow! ??

He will be familiar to Fair City fans after playing Mark Halpin for 9 years between 2001 and 2010. Since leaving the show he has been concentrating on his music career. After appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, the Dublin native secured himself a record deal with Sony Music.

He released a self-titled album and two singles and is currently over in America on a tour.

Interestingly, according to The Sun, RTÉ first approached the sister duo, Heathers, to sing on behalf of the country but they turned it down as they weren’t willing to sing a song written by another songwriter.

Hopefully Ryan will confirm one way or another today.
