Phew! The news we wanted to hear about Netflix

Happy days.

Laura Holland

Netflix users – prepare to breathe a sigh of relief.

Last week Judges in the States ruled that it should be illegal for people to share their Netflix passwords. It was thought that there might be a knock-on effect in Europe with the same rules coming into play.

At present, up to three people can use a Netflix account by sharing a password. You can also make different profiles so that you each get recommended different types of programmes and movies based on what you have watched before. A lot of families and friends tend to do this and share the cost among themselves.

So when it was revealed that this might no longer be possible it was the last thing Netflix users wanted to hear.

But now it turns out it’s not going to happen. Netflix has clarified the whole situation saying that it will only be an issue if people are selling their password online.

So if someone was to use their own password and charge two others to use it then that is where they will get into trouble. Netflix told Business Insider, “As long as they aren’t selling them, members can use their passwords however they please.”

No need to go panicking for now anyway.

Looking for something to binge watch on Netflix? You’ll be happy to hear that all the Gilmore Girls episodes are now available to watch on the streaming site and just in time for the reboot of the show.
