This prank call gone wrong helped two radio presenters find the soundest man alive

Buy that man a beer immediately.

It was meant to be a simple prank call. Instead they found a prophet…

Australian radio presenters Hamish and Andy found themselves discovering the nicest man in Australia after a routine prank call.

The premise was simple – Hamish would pick a random phone number and pretend to be a character called “Tim”.

Tim was in a bit of a bind, about to head into a job interview for an accounting firm, and wanted to know if the person on the line would pretend to know him as a character reference.

If the person said they were up for it, Andy would then ring up the very same number 10 minutes later, trying to catch the person out in their lie.

It’s a pretty good plan; only they hadn’t planned on calling up James Lord, who will henceforth be know as The Nicest Man In The Land.

“Yeah sweet, I’ll just tell them that you’re a ripper bloke”, James, aged 23 from Melbourne told Hamish.

And what a tale he told.

What an amazing act of random kindness.

James, didn’t just say he’d knew “Tim”, but he bullshitted incredibly, telling a prospective employer that he his friendship with the fictional person lasted TEN YEARS.

Not only that, but James also said that Tim was bilingual and excellent with money.

It all got too much, and Hamish and Andy had to reveal their prank.

“I love Hamish and Andy. I thought I would be able to pick the voice, but nope”, said James talking to the Sydney Morning Herald.

He said they called him about 3pm, while he was finishing up work. “I’m an electrician by trade and I was almost packing up for the end of the day, and I can’t even remember what I was doing but as soon as I finished I told my mates and I messaged my girlfriend, as well, saying that I can’t believe this just happened.”

Good on you pal, we wish we were as good at thinking on your feet as you are.
