Ant and Dec have surprised fans after quitting Saturday Night Takeaway.

The presenting duo hosted the show for 20 series but felt it was the right time to step away from the programme. They confirmed the news in a video this week, but confirmed they won't finish up until 2024. "We love making Saturday Night Takeaway, but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath," they shared. "We still have a momentous 20th series to look forward to first so we will do our best to go out (for now) with a bang in 2024." "The show takes up such a lot of our year. We just feel we need a little bit of a breather. Let's get to work." Fans expressed their disappointment following the major announcement. One wrote, "My Saturday nights won't be the same without you." "Awwww! Gutted, but totally understand. Like you've said before, it's a multi-item show and it takes up a lot of time! Looking forward to seeing what you bring during the break from it!" another wrote. One added, "Excited for the 20th series but gutted it will take a break after that but that’s understandable! I know it takes up most of your year to plan the show so you boys deserved a well-earned rest and quality time with your loved ones!"
