RTÉ’s brand new dating show looks mortifying and sweet in equal measure

Paul Moore

First Dates fans will definitely be watching this.

Since being commissioned by RTÉ, it’s arguable that First Dates Ireland has been the best Irish-produced reality TV show in recent years. Hell, it’s arguable that it’s the best Irish TV show because there’s a sweetness, authenticity, and real heart to how it depicts the dating scene.

Basically, it just captures people as they are.

Charming, sweet, awkward, annoying, funny. You name it and we’ve probably seen it.

However, RTÉ’s brand new dating show is very, very different for one main reason, it involves the parents.

If you’re one of those people that find talking about your love life in front of your parents about as awkward as a fart in mass, Pulling With My Parents is definitely one to watch!

As per the official synopsis, the show revolves around “young single people as they ask their parents to find potential partners for them using modern and traditional methods. The first episode features a sporty 30-year-old man who has been reliant on dating apps up until now, and a woman whose cat gets first refusal on all men.”

Having seen the first trailer, you know exactly what’s in store.

If you’re a Tinder user, would you ever let your mam have control of your account? Sure, what’s the worst that can happen?!?!

Pulling With My Parents starts on RTÉ2 on Monday, 14 October at 21:30.

Take a look at what’s in store.
