RTÉ’s Des Cahill catches a fan with other plans at Ed Sheeran’s Croke Park gig

Sure, what else would you be doing?

Ed Sheeran kicked off his world tour last night with a headline gig at Croke Park to thousands of screaming fans, but there was one who seemed a little disinterested in the mega star.

Of course, Saturdays are typically big days in the world of GAA, and one fan in the crowd at the gig seemed to be a lot more focused on that than the I Don’t Care singer.

RTE sports presenter Des Cahill was in the crowd at the concert when he spotted the most hilarious concert goer and couldn’t let it slide without taking a sneaky picture.

The broadcaster said: “The woman sitting in front of my daughter-in-law at #EdSheeran concert is watching the Hurling on her phone!! #LIMvWAT – That’s what Croke Park is for… watching Matches.”

A woman’s got to do what a woman’s got to do, hey?

Ed Sheeran kicked off his Mathematics Tour in Dublin’s Croke Park, the first concert to be held there since the pandemic began.

Concert promoter Peter Aiken told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “This is the first year of his three-year world tour. It’s great that we’re getting the first date.

“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s in the round and it’s all bells and whistles.

“It’s going to be so different from anything he’s ever done before.”
