Do Normal People's Connell and Marianne get back together?

Fans of the show were completely enthralled after the series was released. Normal People was watched nearly three million times when it was first released, according to RTÉ.

It's a series we're forever thinking about, and viewers can't help but wonder what happens to Connell and Marianne.

When we last see them, Connell decides to leave Dublin for a creative writing course in New York, but Marianne chooses to stay in Dublin.

Sally Rooney gave fans a glimpse at Connell and Marianne's future in her 2016 short story At The Clinic.

The short story confirms that Connell and Marianne have remained friends throughout the years.

However, the friends are dating other people, even though they still have strong feelings for each other.

In the story, Rooney reveals that Connell and Marianne continue to sleep together.

Marianne even dreams of marrying Connell one day.

Sally Rooney isn't the only one who is rooting for the beloved characters.

Daisy Edgar-Jones previously told The One Show about what the future has in store for her and Paul Mescal's characters.

"I hope that they remain that level of settled and happy that they get to by the end of the series. It’s wonderful that Marianne enables him to follow his dream as a writer in New York, so I really hope he sticks at it and carries on doing what he loves." 

"I kind of imagine that [Marianne] moves in with Lorraine and they have quite a happy, little life together!"
