Saoirse Ronan Discusses Her Latest Role and Her Love of Domhnall Gleeson

'Brooklyn' hits cinemas nationwide this weekend

Rebecca McKnight

Saoirse Ronan shot to fame in 2007 starring alongside Keira Knightley and James McAvoy in Atonement.

Since then, she has appeared in a number of successful films including The Lovely Bones, Hanna and The Host.

For her latest role, she’s going back to her Irish roots by playing Eilis Lacey in Brooklyn and is already being tipped for an Oscar.

The film, based on Colm Tóibín’s novel of the same name, tells the story of a young woman who moves from Enniscorthy to Brooklyn to create a new life for herself.

The film is directed by John Crowley and is written by Nick Hornby. It also stars Emory Cohen and Domhnall Gleeson.

We caught up with Saoirse when she was in Dublin recently to discuss the movie (which you HAVE to go see) and her love of “The Gleeson.”

Brooklyn hits cinemas nationwide this weekend.
