Yesterday we brought you the news that Taylor John Smith will be playing the son of the late Sebastian in an NBC tv reboot of the iconic 1990s film Cruel Intentions.
Now in even more exciting news, Sarah Michelle Gellar aka the manipulative and beautiful Kathryn Merteuil, with the actress posting the news on her Instagram account.
According to Variety: For the modern-day revival, Kathryn’s character is described as a “smart, sexy, cruel, charismatic, powerful” master manipulator. The woman behind the scandal involving Bash’s mother, Annette, Kathryn is now married to the wealthy Pascal Barrett and spearheads an inspiring youth rehabilitation movement, as well as being involved in a local private school. She is privately shaken by the arrival of Sebastian’s son, Bash, and the re-appearance in her life of the girl she wronged years ago, Annette.
Reese Witherspoon, who played Annette in the original film has not been approached to join the project, and the character is currently being cast.
