Sarah Paulson to return as a ‘central character’ for season 10 of American Horror Story

Sarah Paulson is returning for season 10 of American Horror Story.

The 45-year-old took a step back from the horror anthology in 2019, when she didn’t appear in last year’s slasher film inspired 1984. Her absence from the series was because she was filming for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Netflix series Ratched.

However, in good news for fans, the actress has confirmed her return for season 10 – and it won’t be just in a guest role, either.

“I can confirm that I will be in next season,” she told The Wrap. “I have no idea what it will be…But I’m not coming back as a guest part, I will be a central character.”

Speaking after FX renewed American Horror Story for another three seasons, Paulson admitted she had “no idea” if she would appear in seasons 11, 12 and 13.

“God willing, I have no idea,” she continued. “But I do know that I did ask Ryan, if the question was asked to me, could I say that I was coming back, and he said, ‘Yes, you can say.’ So yes, I will be back on American Horror Story.”

Paulson’s return comes a few months after the series creator Ryan Murphy revealed he had been “reaching out” to a number of fan favourites about a possible return.

“I’ve been quietly reaching out to various people,” he told Deadline in November. “Some people I haven’t reached out to yet because I was like ‘Do I have a role for them?’ So far, everybody I reached out to said ‘Yes’, so that’s been great.”
