Sesame Street introduce their first character in foster care

Rudi Kinsella

The most adorable thing you’ll see today.

Sesame Street, one of the most popular and influential children’s programmes of the last 50 years, has introduced fans to Karli, a character who lives in Foster Care.

We also meet her “for-now” parents, Dalia and Clem, who are looking after Karli.

The debut of the character is part of initiative from the “Sesame Street in Communities” programme, which provides free resources for community providers on a number of topics, including issues like homelessness and traumatic experiences, according to Sesame Workshop.

Take a look at a clip here:

A message on the Sesame Street website accompanies the video, which reads: “As an adult involved in foster care, you have an enormous job: building and rebuilding family structures and children’s sense of safety.

“What you are doing takes patience, resilience, courage, and sacrifice.”

In the past, a character with autism was introduced to the gang on Sesame Street, which was another way absolutely lovely moment, which you can see here.
