Sky News presenter says C-word on TV, doesn’t notice

Ellen Fitzpatrick

The cringe.

A presenter on Sky News has made a blunder nobody would have wanted to do as she mispronounced Jeremy Hunt’s name, mistaking it for a similar, but much worse, word.

Mispronouncing the word completely, she called the former health secretary ‘Jeremy C**t’ by mistake but didn’t seem to notice she had made the slip up.

Continuing to speak directly to the camera, it was as if it had never happened and she continued like normal.

Speaking to Conservative MPs on the day of the no-confidence vote over Boris Johnson took place in Parliament, Sophy Ridge referenced comments Hunt had made recently about Johnson’s leadership.

She said: “Two figures who are significant, Jeremy C*** because he’s a potential leadership candidate.”

Continuing without missing a beat, she carried on by adding: “Jesse Norman because he’s worked with Boris Johnson for quite a long time.”

Of course, the internet couldn’t let the blunder go, immediately taking to social media to dissect the mishap.

One person said: “My god this is absolutely delicious.”

Another wrote: “At this point @Jeremy_Hunt should just give up and pay for the name change. It would be a lot easier for everybody concerned.”

A third wrote: “People calling him Jeremy C**t will never not be funny.”

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened with his name, back in 2019, presenter Victoria Derbyshire also mispronounced his name this way live on air, saying: “You say the man you are backing, Jeremy C**t… I’m so sorry, Jeremy Hunt.

“I’ve never said that before in my life. It’s normally men who say that so I really, really want to apologise.”

Hunt has previously addressed the regular slip ups made on his name, once saying: “Anyone who knows what my last name rhymes with will know I’ve been called a whole lot worse on the Today programme.”
