Love Actually is one of our favourite Christmas films and the festive season doesn’t properly start until it’s been on the TV.
We’ve just found out what happened to Harry and Karen thanks to scriptwriter and broadcaster Emma Freud, who is married to Love Actually director Richard Curtis.
Last night, Emma attended a screening of the film and decided to tweet from it, revealing the couple’s fate.
Fans of the film will be familiar with Harry, played by Alan Rickman and Karen (Emma Thompson).
In the movie, Harry is seen flirting with his secretary Mia and things escalate when he buys her expensive jewellery which unbeknownst to him, Karen has already found.
Christmas morning sees Karen open her gift from Harry to see a Joni Mitchell CD and it’s heartbreaking to see her realise that her husband is more than likely cheating on her.
The film ends but until now, we had no idea if the couple lasted the distance or not.
Emma tweeted about the scene and one fan replied asking her if they stayed together to which she replied: “they stay together but home isn’t as happy as it once was”.
