Still haven’t managed to get your hands on Star Wars memorabilia? If you’ve got around $200,000 lying about the house and don’t know what to do with it, you may want to have a look at this…
Han Solo’s iconic DL-44 blaster from the science-fiction franchise is to be sold at auction. The non-firing, lightweight blaster was created for
The Empire Strikes Back and also featured in
Return of the Jedi.
According to the auctioneers “Invaluable”, the blaster does exhibit wear from use but “but retains all of the original details, including the flash suppressor and scope (the eye-piece of which is detailed with reflective scotch-lite tape)”.
The gun, based on the German issue Mauser C96 pistol, featured in many of the scenes with Han and was custom made for the film from resin.
“The added distinction of this particular piece is that it was also likely used by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, as both characters shared the same style of weapon in
Empire,” says Invaluable.
“Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from a noted
Star Warscollector. To our knowledge this is the only known example of this type of blaster in private hands. This is a truly incredible item of motion picture history and quite possibly the most exciting science fiction weapon to have been offered for public auction.”
The item is estimated to fetch between $200,000 - $300,000
