STOP. You won’t recognise The Crown’s Claire Foy in her new film role

Cathy Donohue

The Crown's Claire Foy

No way.

Claire Foy is well known for her role as Queen Elizabeth in The Crown but her new on-screen role is something completely different.

The popular actress is set to play Lisbeth Salander in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, which is based on the book of the same name.

This film follows on from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo although this one appears to be more action-focused, with plenty of stunts and dramatic scenes.

As fans of the series will know, Rooney Mara played Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and now Claire is taking on the role.

Salander is on a mission to save women from abusive men and as you’ll see in the trailer, she’s got the superhero moves down.

As you’ll see below, she looks like a completely different person in this guise and we’re very intrigued to see her on the big screen, playing such a completely different part.

Tattoo, piercings, an eye mask and leather, it’s a far cry from Buckingham Palace here and as we’re big fans of Claire, we’re counting down the days until this arrives in cinemas.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web has a November release date so we’ll have to wait a while but in the meantime, check out the rather intense trailer.
