The Bake-Off star and his dance partner stole the show with their stunning Argentine Tango, with the ever-harsh judge Craig Revel-Horwood branding it "fantastic".

The pair scored a whopping 39 out of a possible 40.

Cynthia Erivo, who stepped in for Motsi Mabus - who was missing this week due to a Covid close contact- clapped and said: 'I was crazy for it... this is gorgeous'

'They are back! Fab-u-lous," Shirley Ballas added.

John and Johannes received 10s from all the judges except for Craig, who gave them a nine - but they still topped the leader boards, which saw Tilly Ramsay and partner Nikita Kuzmin at the bottom.

Thanking the judges for their comments and feedback, John said his bond with Johannes was stronger than ever and that the pair had a "great relationship".

"I know I had a bit of lull last week, I was struggling to find myself. I thought I have to perform up and we just found me again, we found us again this week," he said.

"We said it's me and you, and nothing else matters. I feel like I’ve been reborn, darling.”

Fans took to Twitter to praise the performance and point out the chemistry between the two.

"That Argentine tango from John and Johannes was amazing. Definitely saved the best dance of the night until the end." one person wrote.
