“There’s a lot of decisions involved in making television…”

Dynasty is losing another one of its original cast members as another member of the Carrington clan has confirmed their exit.

James Mackay, who plays Steven Carrington in the reboot, confirmed the news on Instagram on Friday night – and he didn’t sound too happy about it all.

The Aussie actor said:

“All new #Dynasty tonight, but, yep, sorry to say without yours truly. While Steven had a choice to leave, unfortunately I didn’t.

“There’s a lot of decisions involved in making television, and sometimes they just don’t go your way and you have to live with it. So for now, all love and on we go. Hope you all enjoy the show. J xx.”

He’s not the first one of the original characters to exit the series – although his exit sounds much less final.

Deadline report that this may not be the last fans have seen of Steven, and that he will be back later in the year in a plot twist.

Nathalie Kelley, who played Fallon and Steven’s stepmother Cristal Carrington, previously confirmed that she wouldn’t be back for season two.

While she hinted that the writers may just put her character in a coma in a traditional and dramatic soap move, it was revealed in the season two premiere that Cristal died in the dramatic season one finale.

Dynasty airs on Friday nights on the CW in North America, with new episodes arriving on Saturdays on Netflix in Ireland.
