The scenes will be shown in the new season.
The Crown are prepared to be faced with a “row” over plans to use a replica of the damaged car that killed Princess Diana in 1997, reports have claimed.
Princess Diana was sadly killed alongside her partner Dodi Fayed following a car crash at the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris on August 31st 1997.
According to the Daily Mail, the replica of the car has its front wheel buckled, the bonnet crushed and the dashboard hanging out of the windscreen.
The car is believed to have been transported through a tarpaulin in Paris last year to film.
Last October, crews who were working on the Netflix production were seen reconstructing Diana’s final journey and scenes are also said to show investigators examining the area.
Netflix said of their decision to film the crash: “The exact moment of the crash impact will not be shown.”
A source, however, told the Daily Mail: “I think a lot of people will find it quite sick that they went into such detail to recreate how the car was smashed up.
“I think it’s going to cause a lot of upset with the Royal Family. If it was any other family I’m not sure they’d do it.”
The Crown has faced a lot of criticism in the way they have portrayed Diana’s life but Elizabeth Debicki, who plays the late royal, says people need to “move on”.
In an interview with Radio Times, she said: “I respect people’s points of view and I, being an actor in the show, understand the nature of what the show is.
“It was always very clear to me that one can never know what happens behind closed doors and that a writer is interpreting what may have happened.
She added: “Now the disclaimer is up there, we can maybe stop talking about it and move on. If that’s helpful for certain people, so be it, and now the conversation can be returned to the creative endeavour of what the show is.”
