The film Irish people hope wins big at the Oscars has been revealed

It’s that time of year again.

Yes, that’s right: the Oscars are just around the corner (February 24, to be exact).

And a new survey has found there is one particular movie that people in Ireland are really rooting for this year.

Almost a third of people are hoping to see A Star Is Born pick up the Best Picture gong.

Meanwhile, 39 per cent of people want to see Lady Gaga win Best Actress and 32 per cent want to see Bradley Cooper win Best Actor.

The research, conducted by NOW TV, also found that almost half of people – 47 per cent, to be exact – will be watching the 91st Academy Awards this weekend, wether that be on social media, a highlights show or on the news.

One in five people plan to keep up-to-date on the goings on through social media, while 25 per cent are determined to hold. off on the Oscar gossip until the next morning.

And as excited as we are to see who brings home the trophies on Sunday night/Monday morning, we’re equally as excited to see what the celebs will be wearing on the red carpet.

The Academy Awards’ red carpet produces plenty of winners and losers in the fashion stakes each and every year, some more memorable than others.

The survey asked people what they thought was the ‘biggest fashion fail’ in Oscar history – and you’ll definitely recognise them.

Cher’s 1986 black jewel-encrusted look – complete with a feathered Bob Mackie headpiece – tied with Bjork’s 2011 swan-inspired dress for the biggest fashion misstep in the history of the awards show.

Some of the other looks that rounded out the top picks of fashion faux pas include Sacha Baron Cohen’s appearance as Admiral General Aladeen (21 per cent) and Gwyneth Paltrow’s braless goth look from 2002 (19 per cent).

Commenting on the research, Michael Forry, Head of NOW TV, said:

“NOW TV is a unique streaming service that lets you dip in and out and watch the best TV shows and movies on your terms, without having to sign up to a long-term contract.

“Whether you just want to see the dresses or you’re a real film fanatic, you can enjoy the biggest night in Hollywood live from your mobile laptop, tablet or Smart TV.”
