The first look at Will Smith as the Genie in the live-action remake of Disney’s Aladdin is here

The Genie is out of the bottle.

And by that, we mean the secret is out: the first look at the live-action remake of Aladdin is here.

In October, Will Smith (who is playing the Genie, FYI) shared the first poster from the film – and it was swiftly followed up by a brief teaser trailer, although it didn’t show too much.

But now we’ve gotten our first look at all of the characters in the film – and boy, we can’t wait.

Entertainment Weekly released the first set of film photos from the remake of the 1992 animated classic, which is due to hit cinemas in May next year.

Will Smith also spoke to the publication about taking on the role of the Genie, a part made famous by Robin Williams.

He said:

“Whenever you’re doing things that are iconic, it’s always terrifying.

“The question is always: Where was there meat left on the bone? Robin didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone with the character.

“I started to feel confident that I could deliver something that was an homage to Robin Williams but was musically different.

“Just the flavor of the character would be different enough and unique enough that it would be in a different lane, versus trying to compete.”
