The Good Place is due to return to the small screen for its holy anticipated third season in just a few weeks – and now the series’ creation, Mike Schur, has revealed what fans can expect.
With the help of some first look photos, of course.
(Needless to say, the rest of this story contains spoilers for the ending of season 2 of The Good Place)
As the second season came to a close, Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason were all back on Earth – this time, in an alternate timeline where they didn’t die – for a second chance.
The moment moments of the finale showed Eleanor knocking on Chidi’s door in Australia, with Schur admitting she is putting a lot of faith in her former partner’s ability to help her become better.
He told Entertainment Weekly:
“She obviously showed up in Australia on a whim. She’s putting a lot of eggs in the basket of ‘This guy I’ve never met before is going to help me’.”
Some of the other photos released to the publication show a dressed-down Tahani, who is going to be making some serious changes in her life, as well as a super stressed out Chidi who is standing in the library.

Schur explained how that’s the place that Chidi goes to when he doesn’t know what to do, adding:
“He’s a person who is pretty sure that the answers to the questions that plague him can be found in books.
“So, at one point he goes to a library and he takes out, like, 12,000 books, and one of them is ‘Chocolate Rain’ singer Tay Zonday’s book, Chocolate Book. It’s one of our favourite jokes from the premiere.”
Weighing in on how the second chance will impact the last of the four, Jason, Schur told the publication that the dancer’s near-death experience will lead him to consider his achievements in life.
He said:
“When he almost dies he comes to question whether or not anything he’s done really matters.”
The series of photos also give us a glimpse of neuroscientist Simone, who Chidi seeks out after he becomes convinced his brain is broken, as well as the Doorman, the guard to the afterlife – and who doesn’t appear to be Michael’s biggest fan.
- The Good Place’s third season will premiere on September 27, 2018 – with the new episodes expected to arrive on Netflix in the following days.
