They’re not ready to give up.

Fans have launched a petition to save The OA following the Netflix original’s cancellation after two seasons.

It was announced on Monday that the sci-fi series, created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, would not be picked up for a third season.

Netflix head of originals Cindy Holland said:

“We are incredibly proud of the 16 mesmerising chapters of The OA, and are grateful to Brit and Zal for sharing their audacious vision and for realising it through their incredible artistry.

“We look forward to working with them again in the future, in this and perhaps many other dimensions.”

A petition has been launched to save the series, with fans urging Netflix to “give it a third season or a few episodes to wrap it up.”

“The OA is such an important show to so many people,” the Change.org petition began.

The description continued:

“Netflix is known for canceling fan favorites so we at least ask Netflix to give it a third season or a few episodes to wrap it up. We need more!

“Brit and Zal spent so many countless hours creating this world and bringing it to life, hoping for five seasons. This world is full of love, acceptance, and bravery.

“Something we need to see more of on our screens. Science fiction brings their imagination to life, we have to continue this. To have it cancelled after two is such a shame.

“The creators and fans of this show deserve to have the story finished.”
