We all know her as Serena van der Woodsen from hit show Gossip Girl, floating along the streets of New York in an expensive Prada or Gucci ensemble trying to figure out her latest love life-related crisis.
However in the trailer for her new action thriller The Shallows, Lively is a thousand miles away from any Blair Waldorf bridal shower or boutique store.
Lively plays a beachy surfer character Nancy, who is exploring an isolated sun-soaked haven only called 'Paradise'.
The sand is white and the water is blue, truly an idyllic place of relaxation, but a creature lurks in these heavenly waters that will threaten the lives of Nancy and others at the shore.
In the clip, Nancy is suddenly attacked and finds herself stranded atop a tiny atoll.
The shore is not too far away, but with a shark cruising freely in the waters between her temporary refuge and land, Nancy must find a way to triumph over her predator and make her way home.
The Shallows is released in Irish cinemas August 12th, 2016 and if the trailer is anything to go by, I'll be watching through my hands.
