There’s going to be a Charlie’s Angels reboot and we’re not sure what to think

Charlie’s found his angels for the big screen (again).

Charlie’s Angels is the latest franchise to be getting the reboot treatment – and the three leads for the action-packed film revival have been announced.

The series originally started as a TV series in the 1970s, before getting the feature film treatment in 2000 and 2003.

It was then made into a TV series (again) in 2011.

And now it’s set to be heading back to the big screen, with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska as the next generation of the iconic series.

Elizabeth Banks will be taking on the role of Bosley, the general representative for the enigmatic and never-actually-seen owner of the detective agency, Charlie Townsend.

She will also be directing the film.

According to Varietythe film will be mainly focused on the next regeneration of Angels, who are still working for Charlie (naturally).

Since the original films, the Townsend Agency has continued to grow. They now provide security and intelligence services to a wider variety of clients with offices and highly-trained teams across the globe.

The movie will focus on one of those teams.

Banks said in a statement:

Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s.

“This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels.

“I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world.”

The movie is set to be released in the United States on September 27, 2019.
