This sounds amazing.

Netflix has announced that a Bridgerton spin-off is currently in the works.

The series, which will act as a prequel to the hugely popular period drama, focuses on the origins of Queen Charlotte, who captivated audiences during the show’s first season.

The spin-off’s official title and release date have yet to be revealed.

A statement from Netflix read: “The Bridgerton-verse is expanding! Netflix and Shondaland today announced plans for an all-new limited series based on the origins of Queen Charlotte — the reimagined and beloved character who captivated 82 Million households around the world in Season 1.

“While the series will center on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also tell the stories of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

“Shonda Rhimes will write the series and serve as executive producer alongside Betsy Beers and Tom Verica. An official title and more details will be revealed at a later time.”

Bridgerton fans fell in love with Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) during the first season, and it’s safe to say we cannot wait to learn more about her in this spin-off.

The news of the prequel comes as production continues on the show’s hugely anticipated second season. On top of that, Bridgerton’s creator, Chris Van Dusen confirmed in April that the series has been renewed for a third and fourth season.

Earlier this year, many Bridgerton fans were disappointed to learn that leading man Regé-Jean Page would not be returning for season two.

While Page’s character Simon was the focus for much of season one, season two will explore Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) quest for love.

Season two will also see the introduction of a whole new cast of characters. Among them is Theo Sharpe, who will be played by Irish actor Calam Lynch.
