Pikachu is being voiced by one of our favourite actors.
When we were kids, it’s safe to say a lot of us were obsessed with Pokémon. And our (my) all-time favourite character was Pikachu.
He was cute. He helped Ash solve whatever it was he had to solve. He was generally just the best.
A few year ago Pokémon Go came along and captured the world with both young and old playing the game.
We thought that might have been the end to Pikachu for a while, but no – he is now playing a detective in a real-life action movie.
You read that right.
Ryan Reynolds debuted the promo for the movie on Instagram last night and at first everyone was admittedly like WTF… but then the excitement came.
Ryan plays a brilliant Pikachu and the movie looks like it’s a million miles away from the story behind Pokémon.
The actor wrote on Instagram: “I think we all knew I’d wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words. Just didn’t think it would be this soon.”
Yep, we’re excited.
