This Bachelor contestant used a fake Australian accent to ‘stand out’ and we have so many questions

Talk about commitment.

A contestant from the upcoming season of the US version of The Bachelor has caused a social media storm after she used a fake Australian accent to “stand out.”

Yes, really.

ABC released a short promotional clip ahead of the series’ premiere next week, showing a contestant named Bri walking up to meet this year’s bachelor, Colton.

“You’ve got a nice accent. Where are you from?” he asks her in the 24-second clip.

“The accent, it’s Australian, I was hoping that you’re kind of a sucker for accents,” she tells him, with Colton admitting he loves accents.

The clip then cuts to Bri inside the confessional…and with a distinctly not-Australian accent.

“I’m not really Australian, but you have to do what you can to stand out,” she points out.

Technically, she didn’t lie. She never actually said that she was Australian, just that the accent was.

Still probably not the best way to start out a relationship, though.

Bri’s bio for the show says that she is actually a model from Southern California, and “much more than a pretty face.”

We just want to know how long she can keep this up for – and, from the looks of things, neither can social media users.
