Tinder Swindler Shimon Hayut said Netflix documentary was actually about his “success”

Katy Brennan

*Sigh* Here we go again.

Conman Shimon Hayut bragged about being the subject of Netflix’s documentary The Tinder Swindler – saying that rather than exposing him as a fraudster, it was actually all about his “successful business” career.

Pernilla Sjoholm, one of the three women who appeared in the Netflix documentary to share their experience of being conned by Shimon, told Metro:

“When they were doing the Netflix movie, he was going out and saying there was a Netflix movie being made about his successful business life.”

Shimon was accused of conning several woman out of huge amounts of money, seeking them out on Tinder and pretending to be the son of Israeli diamond mogul, Lev Leviev.

Pernialla, along with other victims, Cecilie Fjellhøy and Ayleen Charlotte, worked to highlight Shimon’s crimes to the world and are now trying to prevent other people from falling victim to such frauds.

“It’s still my goal [to get Shimon behind bars], I’m never going to give up on that,” she said.

“For me, I sort of would feel happier with him being in a prison in Israel than in a nice prison in Sweden.”

As we know, the documentary really did the total opposite of what Shimon said – it exposed him as a con artist. However, he continues to deny all allegations against him.

In a recent interview with Inside Edition, he insisted that he was not “this monster that everybody has created” and claimed that the entire documentary was “made-up”.

“I’m not a fraud and I’m not a fake,” he said. “People don’t know me so they cannot judge me. I’m the biggest gentleman in the world.”

He added Cecilie, Ayleen, and Pernilla “weren’t conned and they weren’t threatened”.

It was recently revealed that he is being sued by the Leviev diamond family, whose name he stole on order to carry out his crimes.
