Turns out Love Is Blind didn’t show us every couple that got engaged

Have you started watching Love Is Blind yet?

If not, you definitely should.

Basically, it follows a group of singletons – 15 girls, 15 guys – who want to be loved for who they are, rather than what they look like. So, they sign up for a less conventional approach to modern dating where they hope to meet the person they want to spend the rest of their lives with…without ever having seen them.

With no distractions from the outside world, the singles talk to a stream of potential love interests and when a meaningful connection is made, they propose and then lay their eyes on their fiancé for the first time.

Engaged and back in the real world, as the couples plan their wedding day, they will quickly discover whether they can turn their emotional connection into a physical one before the fast-approaching ceremony.

Love Is Blind follows six couples after the pods: Lauren and Cameron, Damian and Giannina, Kelly and Kenny, Barnett and Amber, Mark and Jessica and Carlton and Diamond.

But it turns out there were even more couples ready to walk down the aisle once the pods came to an end.

The series’ creator  Chris Coelen spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what went on behind-the-scenes – including the fact that eight couples ended up getting engaged.

“We only have so much time to tell a story, but there are lots of interesting stories. There’s the guy, Rory, who features in a couple of scenes,” he explained. “He’s phenomenal. He actually got engaged to a woman who you only see for a brief moment early on named Danielle. They were together for a little while and then they broke up and she ended up dating the guy who appears at the very beginning of the show, Matt.

“One of the things I love about the show is, ultimately, when they go on their romantic getaway, they do get to see what the other ones look like and Jessica gets to see Barnett in the flesh for the first time and you get to see whether that matters and if maybe she made the wrong choice. I love that element of the show and I think that in real life, they were all really curious to know what the others looked like.”

And while we totally get that there are time constraints (and only so many couples they would be able to follow post-pod), we can only imagine how it feels to have gone through the process to be edited out.

The finale of Love Is Blind airs on Netflix on February 27.
