Viewers praise Corrie for emotional scenes as Leanne's son Oliver passes away
Coronation Street fans have praised the show for its depiction of Oliver Battersby's death.
Many were touched by last night's episode where Leanne and Steve said goodbye to their young son.
The toddler's life support was switched off and his parents sang 'You Are My Sunshine' as he passed away.
"We love you son. You’re the most loved little boy in the whole wide world," Steve told him.
Leanne and Steve had given up their fight to keep Oliver alive after his liver failed and his other organs began to shut down.
He had been diagnosed with an incurable mitochondrial disease earlier this year.
The scenes struck a chord with many of those who tuned in, with special praise for how the soap showed parents losing a child.
My parents were in Leanne and Steve’s situation just before I was born after their daughter was diagnosed with an incurable disease. My dad has always been an alpha male but has just cried his heart out after watching tonight’s #Corrie .. So heartbreaking yet so accurately done?
