The Holiday is one of the best Christmas movies
I would watch The Holiday all year round if it was socially acceptable, but I try to keep my rewatches to December only.
The Nancy Meyers hit is a Christmas classic and has been an all-time favourite of mine ever since 2006.
Each rewatch brings something new, especially as I get closer to Iris and Amanda's ages. Influencer Helen McPherson recently revealed how old Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz) actually are, and you may be as surprised as I was to find out they're both in their early 30s.
Helen revealed that Kate Winslet's character is supposedly 30-31, and Diaz's Amanda is around 34 years old in the film.
Imagine being a solo homeowner in your early thirties? A girl really can dream.
In an Instagram video, Helen said Iris was treated a little like Bridget Jones, "She's a bit past it, and a bit on the shelf; time was running out for her to get married. That's okay, she lives in a beautiful cottage in Surrey. She's got a good job, she'll be fine, get a couple of cats."
She then revealed Winslet was only 30 when she was cast as Iris, and exclaimed: "She's just a baby!"
Helen went on to reveal that she thought Amanda was in her mid-to-late 40s in The Holiday.
"[I'm] getting sexy, cougar-like vibes from her, she can't cry, doesn't think she's good in bed, but she's [probably] better than she thinks she is.
"Lives in a [mansion], Desperate Housewives vibe except she's not married. I thought she was in her mid-to-late 40s. [But she's] 34! I didn't even have a frontal lobe at age 34," she joked.
Fans of the movie also admitted they were shocked by how young Iris and Amanda were.
One said, "These videos need to come with a trigger warning."
Another added, "No wonder millennials don’t feel like we’ve ever achieved anything."
